A hilarious, musical journey through the afterlife!
A recently departed soul named Alejandro has just arrived in Mictlán, the land of the dead, on the eve of el Día de los Muertos. But la Muerte notices that something is different about this soul’s arrival—he can’t remember anything about his past.
Meanwhile, los muertitos—the dead—can’t wait to get back to the land of the living to visit their loved ones. But the portal to the other land is blocked, and they discover that one of them is holding them back!
To cross in time for the holiday, los muertitos have to help Alejandro resolve his unfinished business, and they need your help! Otherwise, they might be stuck until next year…
Full of laughter and song, La Muerte Baila is a heartwarming story about forgiveness, about remembrance, and about choosing how we live our lives.

COLLECTIVE POETRY PROJECT
For this production of La Muerte Baila, we’re partnering with The Cultural Work of Poetry, a project of the Culture Counts Reading Series.
Through workshops and other initiatives, we’ll collaborate to gather contributions from you and other community members around the themes of La Muerte Baila—healing, laughter, joy, remembrance. Members of The Cultural Work of Poetry, with the guidance of SJSU Professor Jonathan Gomez and Silver Creek HS teacher Alberto Camacho, will weave your responses into a series of poems.
A different poem will be read aloud by students and community members at each performance of La Muerte Baila and published into booklets available in the lobby of the show.

We welcome Girl Scout troops for a special Teatro Visión experience! Troops will be welcomed on a backstage tour following the show.
This performance will be interpreted in American Sign Language.
This performance will be followed by a post-show Q&A with the director and members of the cast. The Q&A will be interpreted in ASL.

Meet and mingle with your fellow college students from all over the Bay Area at this special performance of La Muerte Baila. Featuring a reading of a poem by a Bay Area college student.

Join us to celebrate and support our LGBTQ+ community and allies. Featuring a reading of a Pride-themed poem from a member of our community.
ACCESSIBILITY
La Muerte Baila is performed in Spanish with open captions in English and Spanish.
ASL interpretation will be provided at the Sun., October 15 performance of La Muerte Baila. This performance will be followed by a post-show Q&A with the cast and director, which will also be interpreted in ASL.
ADA seating is available at the theater, in the main level of the audience chamber and on the balcony. There are elevators to the balcony on the right side of the theater lobby. There are no steps leading into the theater from the Plaza, which is accessible via ramps from the parking lots on both King Rd. and Alum Rock Ave.

¡Un divertido recorrido musical a través del Mictlán!
Un nuevo muertito llamado Alejandro acaba de llegar al Mictán en la víspera del Día de los Muertos. Pero la Muerte se da cuenta que algo parece diferente de la llegada de este nuevo muertito—no puede recordar nada de su pasado.
Entre tanto, los muertitos no pueden esperar regresar al mundo de los vivos para visitar a sus seres queridos. Pero la puerta al otro lado está cerrada ¡y descubren que uno de ellos los está frenando!
Para cruzar al otro lado a tiempo para las fiestas, los muertitos tienen que ayudar a Alejandro a resolver sus asuntos pendientes ¡y necesitan tu ayuda! De lo contrario, podrían quedarse estancados hasta el próximo año…
Llena de risas y canciones, La Muerte Baila es una conmovedora historia sobre el perdón, el recuerdo y la elección de cómo vivimos nuestras vidas.

PROYECTO COLECTIVO DE POESÍA
Junto a esta producción de La muerte baila, nos aliamos a “The Cultural Work of Poetry", un proyecto del grupo de lectura “La Cultura Cuenta.”
A través de talleres y otras iniciativas, colaboraremos para juntar contribuciones de ti y de otros miembros de nuestra comunidad acerca de los temas de La muerte baila—la curación, el humor, la alegría y el recuerdo. Miembros del grupo de lectura “La Cultura Cuenta”, bajo la dirección del profesor Jonathan Gomez de SJSU y del maestro Alberto Camacho de la preparatoria Silver Creek, tejerán sus respuestas para crear una serie de poemas.
Luego, estudiantes y miembros de la comunidad leerán uno de estos poema durante las funciones de La muerte baila. Se publicarán estos poemas en folletos disponibles en el recibidor del teatro durante cada función.

Reúnete y disfruta con otros estudiantes del colegio del área de la bahía en esta función de La muerte baila. Con una lectura de un poema por un estudiante de colegio del área de la bahía.
Viernes, 21 de octubre | NOCHE DEL ORGULLO
Acompáñanos a celebrar y apoyar a la comunidad LGBTQ+ y aliados. Con una lectura poema con temas LGBTQ+ antes de la función.
ACCESIBILIDAD
La Muerte Baila se presenta en español con supertítulos en inglés y español.
La función del domingo, 15 de octubre a las 2:00pm será interpretada en ASL. Habrá una plática don el director y miembros del elenco después de la función, la cual también será interpretada en ASL.
Asientos que cumplen con el acceso ADA están disponibles en el teatro, en el primer nivel del auditorio y en el balcón. Hay ascensores al balcón en la parte derecha del vestíbulo del teatro. No hay escalones entre la Plaza y el teatro. La Plaza es accesible a través de rampas desde los estacionamientos en King Rd. y Alum Rock Ave.
